The 25th Annual Tweedsmuir Cross Country Ski Race will be held at East Branch
on Sunday March 6, 2011. The race starts at 11:00 am at the cross country
ski trail head located by the highway approx 6 km East of the East Branch
parking lot.
The entry fee is free for kids and students while adults are charged $5.00 with
registration taking place at the race site. There are four age divisions
for both men and women with the course ranging from 7 to 24 kilometres
depending on your preference.
This race is suitable for all levels of skiers. Some people are out for
the competition while others just come out to enjoy the day. Last year
there we managed to get photographs of many of the participants and there was
even one colourful costume. Winners of each division receive a cup while
the overall winner gets their name engraved on the trophy. Whatever your
motivation, it is a good time to come out, socialize and participate in cross country
skiing.

We had a great 2009/10 winter. Cross Country skiers had an incredible 6 months of X-country, almost all with good snow. The ski hill ran from early December till late April and had good conditions every weekend. Snowmobiling was great as well, with a good snowpack and some great powder snow. Please support our club, we need volunteers and money. Watch this website for announcements of work parties starting in late August to work on rebuilding the overnight cabin.

On Sunday March 7, 2010 a number of volunteers with trucks, trailers and a Bobcat showed up to move the donated logs which will be used to cut lumber for the floor and roof of the new cabin. Thanks to everyone who helped out. You've been listed on the Friends of the Overnight Cabin Project register! |
